CALL FOR PAPERS
The international system is experiencing unprecedented
levels of uncertainty. Protracted violent conflicts, state fragility, irregular
migration, resource-based tensions, technological disruption, public distrust
in institutions, and widening inequalities continue to shape the governance of
security globally. At the same time, global crises increasingly interact across
borders, linking local insecurities to international developments.
The Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) invites
scholars, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, civil society actors,
development partners, students, and other stakeholders to submit abstracts and
panel proposals for its 2026 International Conference and General Assembly,
hosted by Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, from 6th
to 9th October 2026.
The conference theme, “Security Governance and Global
Uncertainties,” particularly reflects the urgent need to interrogate how
peace, security, and governance are being reshaped by rapidly evolving local
and global realities. Across the world, societies are confronted with violent
conflict, democratic fragility, terrorism, banditry, cyber threats,
environmental crises, forced displacement, transnational crime, economic
instability, and geopolitical tensions.
The SPSP 2026 International Conference and General Assembly
therefore seeks to contribute to critically examining the structures, actors,
processes, and ideas shaping security governance and global uncertainty. The
conference welcomes theoretical, conceptual, empirical, and practice-oriented
papers that engage with the conference theme from diverse disciplinary and
methodological perspectives.
