INTRODUCTION
Dr Kayode Egbetokun, fspsp, is a highly accomplished and
versatile Police Officer, whose diverse career experiences have consistently
demonstrated his exceptional abilities in the areas of Policing, Peace, and Internal
Security Management in Nigeria and globally. Since he joined the Nigeria Police
Force on 3 March 1990 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, he has consistently
demonstrated exceptional performance, allowing him to progress through the
ranks to Deputy Superintendent of Police. He also served as the Chief Security
Officer to the former Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who is now
the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Dr. Egbetokun has had an extensive career in the police
force, holding various positions such as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad
(RRS), Lagos State, Squadron Commander of the MOPOL AntiFraud Unit in the FCT
Command in Abuja Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, Chief Superintendent of
Police in the Administration Department at the Lagos State Police Command
Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos State, Area Commander in Osogbo, Osun State Police
Command, Area Commander in Gusau, Zamfara State Police Command, Commissioner of
Police Kwara State Command, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Deputy
Inspector General of Police, and Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force.
Before becoming the country's number one police officer, he inspired and
mentored numerous police officers, scholars, and professionals, implemented
projects and programmes to enhance policing, peace, and internal security
management, and generally contributed to the growth of humanity.
He possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, a Master's
Degree in Engineering Analysis, a Postgraduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics,
a Master’s in Business Administration, and a Doctorate-PhD in Peace and
Security Studies. Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, fspsp, is a brilliant police officer, a
reputable academic, a resourceful professional, an adept technocrat, and the
Inspector of Police of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It is without question that a book in his honour would be
highly appropriate and a well-deserved recognition for the exceptionally
intelligent police chief who has paid and continues to pay his dues in safeguarding
Nigerians and the Nigerian state. The book is therefore, thoughtfully designed
as a token of appreciation for the Police Chief, recognizing his significant contributions
to the elds of policing, peace, internal security management, scholarship, and
humanity.
The project will be implemented by the Society for Peace
Studies and Practice (SPSP) in collaboration with the University of Ibadan's
Department for Peace, Security, and Humanitarian Studies (DPSHS), the Faculty
of Multidisciplinary Studies, and other selected Nigerian Universities.
THE AIM OF THE BOOK
THE BOOK AIMS:
• to enhance human capital development in the modern knowledge-based
economy. It does so by presenting theoretical and empirical academic papers
that focus on areas of interest relevant to the career of Dr. Kayode Egbetokun,
fspsp, who is being honoured.
• to be a significant contribution to sustainable national
integration, security, and global peace. It explores and brings together
various areas of study such as policing, political science, peace and security
studies, and conflict and development studies.
• to document the professional life of the honoree
highlighting his contributions to policing, peace, internal security
management, scholarship, and humanity.

The proposed book will utilise the hybridization approach to
choose papers for inclusion. Resourceful scholars from institutions of higher
learning, high-ranking police and security officials, diplomats, technocrats,
and renowned academics are welcome to make contributions to the book.
Furthermore, a small number of deliberately chosen experts
will be invited to make contributions to the book.

submit an article of between 15 and 20 pages or 5,000 – 6,000 words in
Microsoft Word, Times News Romans, Font Size 12.

Public Presentation
The festschrift will be publicly
presented on September 4, 2024, in Abuja, FCT, Nigeria.
